Deployment & Service
I enlisted in the U.S. Army right after high school in 1995, driven by a deep sense of duty and pride for the country I had grown up in. I served as a paratrooper until my honorable discharge in 2001. My time in the Army taught me discipline, resilience, and loyalty, shaping the foundation for my life and future advocacy for veterans.
Life in the United States
After leaving the Army in 2001, I returned home hoping to build a normal life. I focused on my family, worked hard, and cherished time with my children. I believed I had served my country honorably and done everything right—but past legal troubles eventually resurfaced, changing the course of my life.
Deportation
In 2004, despite my honorable military service and dedication, I was deported to Mexico. Leaving my family behind was more painful than any day in the Army. My children cried, my wife was heartbroken, and I felt betrayed by the country I had served with loyalty and sacrifice.
Life Now
I now live in Tijuana, separated from my family by the border I once defended. I watch San Diego from afar—so close, yet unreachable. My children grow up without me. I stay in touch through video calls, but it is never the same. I continue to cope with PTSD while advocating for deported veterans’ rights.
“I wore the uniform with pride. I earned my stripes on the battlefield. But my country deported me like I was nothing”.
